Teaser trailer and small update!
Finally. A News Update. Been way too long. I blame being busy and some technical difficulties. I've kept people largely up to date on our Facebook page, but a proper news update for the site is overdue.
We've had a tremendously dedicated cast and crew that stuck with us through night shoots, long days and Portland rain. As an update on our last entry, Suzanne Moulton has come in and led our design team which includes Jeanne McIvor, Heidi Armour, Kristin Behlings and Lance Woolen among many others.
And this update would not be complete without a completed teaser trailer. Hopefully, this will give people an idea of the tone we are going for as it is patterned after the animatic.

Lots of good news coming out of our production office. Some very talented people have joined our crew to make "Widow's Walk Lake" a special project. David Storm, who's credits include Art Direction for commercials by David Lynch, Production Designer on the locally shot The Auteur, and Art Direction on Northfork will be our Production Designer. Jeanne McIvor, a Lead Armaturist on Coraline, will take on the task of helping with the prosthetic arm which will comprise many of the effects shots.
Wendy and I are thrilled to bring these two people aboard to help create the atmosphere that is so integral for WWL. As the director, I am mainly just excited that people are responding to this material and see it as something potentially unique.
We have two fundraiser events planned for this summer with a couple more in the works.
On June 14th, at the Historic Overlook House, we will be hosting a Garden Party based on the artwork of Edward Gorey. DJs Apocalypse and Curiatrix will be spinning records inside while live performers- strings and piano- will have the lawn. Gorey-inspired costumes strongly encouraged. Ticket prices and other curious details to be announced soon.
Why a garden party based on Edward Gorey's art? This film is going to cost a few arms and a few legs and I wanted the fundraising parties to be as fun and as involved as possible. The subject matter and tone of the film truly lends itself to more creative possibilities for these events. I want to thank Brandy Cochrane for taking a large role in planning and organizing. It will quite possibly become a regular, annual event. Check out the myspace page here and save the date!

A rock show featuring my good friends The Prids and Lookbook will take place tentatively on July 25th at the East End. Date subject to change. Possible third band to be added soon. This event was first formulated last year, however plans changed when the band was involved in a terrible van accident during their summer tour. Though needing fundraiser events to pay for mounting medical bills themselves, The Prids still want to lend support to this film and play the show.

Widow's Walk Lake trailer animatic!
John C. Worsley has been doing some beautiful storyboards and production artwork for "Widow's Walk Lake". I decided they were just too good pass between those that would be working on the film, so I edited a few shots together to make a promotional "animatic" trailer. Hopefully, this will give you an idea of the tone we are going for with the film.

Widow's Walk Lake
Pre-production is in full swing on OverThought's new film, Widow's Walk Lake. A bigger project in every way, we are happy to be collaborating with Wendy Downing of Late Bloomer Productions.
Widow's Walk Lake is a children's ghost story inspired by the works of author John Bellairs. I wanted to do a 180 and try something different this time around, focusing on tone and atmosphere rather than dialogue. Its told in storybook fashion, flashing back over the images of a tragic tale involving love, lighthouses, isolation... and mechanical prosthetics.
Casting is under way for all principle roles and props are being collected. If you would like to be involved please get in touch!
John Worsley has provided several pieces of conceptual art for the project, the first of which can be seen here.
